Christmas is fast approaching and whilst it would be great to talk about all of the achievements this year, I would instead like to simply make you aware of the food bank box which is in the reception of The Centre, Birchwood Park, Warrington.
I myself have a 3 year old and a 7 month old and this is possibly the most exciting Christmas ever, needless to say it’s easy to get caught up in the Christmas frenzy. Before you know it Christmas eve has arrived and for most, it’s an amazing time of the year all set for good food, good drink, good company and the chance to see friends and family that you might not have seen for a while.
Whilst you’re out and about picking up last minute things all I would ask is that for 10 seconds you stop and spare a thought for others less fortunate than you. I appreciate that the world is a very different place for lots of people and all over the world, people are struggling to get by but, here and now and over the Christmas period, Warrington is a cold and lonely place for some and this is where you could help make a difference. When you’re shopping simply add a couple of items to your basket and then drop them off in the food bank box at The Centre. It’s an unmanned box, nobody will be there to thank you or pat you on the back, there is no claim to fame, no stickers or rewards, the only thing you’ll take away is my thanks and the knowledge that you’ve helped someone less fortunate than you.
If you’re wondering what might be good to put in the box, please pop over to www.wodac.org.uk/donate as this amazing local community project have put together a short list of things they are running short of…..anything donated is welcomed and will be collected from The Centre on the 24th.
Go on, help make a difference this year and spread a little cheer by popping in your shopping an extra gift for someone near.
Finally, I would like to personally wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Thanks for reading and your time.
